For the 1st time in SHS history, the Saluda High School Jazz Combo participated in SCBDA Jazz Performance Assessment on the campus of Newberry College School and received an overall superior rating, the highest rating you can get.

It’s been a very busy week for our band program and students.

We began the week with a very successful pre Concert Performance Assessment performance by the Symphonic Winds on the campus of Batesburg Leesville High School Monday evening. This was a joint performance that featured the Batesburg Leesville Middle School Symphonic Band, Batesburg Leesville High School Wind Ensemble and the Saluda Middle/High Symphonic Winds. Thank you so much to Batesburg Leesville middle school and High School for allowing us the opportunity to join you guys for this event. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Jerry Gatch and Mr. Vince Clayton for providing our students with great academic feedback to help us grow on our journey to SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment on March 18th.

Today the Saluda High School Jazz Combo participated in SCBDA Jazz Performance Assessment on the campus of Newberry College School for the first time in Saluda High School history. This group comprised of six members, Isabel Cook, Lake Shealy, Pablo Gomez, Roman Stevens, Alexa Stevens and Demilo Russell, many of which performed on multiple instruments. The ensemble received an overall superior rating, the highest possible rating and Demilo Russell was named best soloist.

Congratulations to this awesome group of students on their hard work. They are truly great ambassadors for our program, school and co
